Wood & Son Yuan pattern breakfast cup and two saucers. The pattern was originally produced in 1916, confirmed by the Reg No, on the back of the saucers. The Yuan pattern was one of the most popular produced by Woods, and fitted in with the public desire for Chinoiserie begun in the Victorian era. The last production of the pattern was in 1980, so a huge production run..:)
Based on the backstamp, this group was from around 1920. In 1921 the second Mckinley Charter was introduced, so companies were required to include 'made in' on their stamps. It is possible the cup may have been one of the original run as it has the impressed mark, rather than the printed one.
The pieces are in excellent condition, one of the saucers has very slight crazing, which, can only been seen under very close examination. The saucers are 16cm in diameter and the cup is 10cm in diameter and 7cm tall.
