A wonderful novelty jug, with a wonderful daschund in relief around the body of the jug with the moto 'Making Both Ends Meet'. This jug was produced by R. Cooke of Hanley, Staffs between 1871-1879. The moto indicative of the age, a real social statement. The jug itself is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It is finished in a tan glaze with some highlighting around te dogs mouth as shown.
The jug measures 9cm tall with a diameter of about 6.5cm.
