A super Buchan Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug with two relief scenes on the sides, one of hunting, the other appears to be a tavern scene.
The company was established in 1867 by Alexander Buchan at Portobello, which for those of us south of the border is just outside Edinburgh. It remained there until 1972 when it moved to Crieff.
This piece is in good condition there is a slight hairline on the inner rim , which runs about 4cm down from the rim. You really have to look hard to see it, but I thought it worth a mention. The jug looks stunning and would make a welcome addition to any collection. It measures 13.5cm high, with a base diameter of 13cm.
