Lovely Japanese Arita Imari six panelled Chrysanthamum rimmed plate, hand painted and decorated in cobalt blue, burnt orange & green, with a blue & white lotus centre. The plate dates to between 1850-1890, late Edo to early Meiji periods.
The base markings are two books and bats, books traditionally are one of the eight precious things and bats are seen as lucky. The body of the plate is in excellent condition, there is slight pattern wear and a couple of minor glaze imperfections. There is damage to the base rim as shown, it appears to have occured prior to firing. It measures 21cm in diameter.
