Chinese scallop rimmed blue and white plate, probably made as a display plate, but glazed and therefore very useable. It does not appear to have been used as the glaze is in good order. The decoration is sectional alternating between floral panels of Sunflowers and patternal sections.
The marks on the back Xian Feng Nian Zhi or made in the reign of Xianfeng. This piece was made for the Western market as the marks are written left to right. Although Xianfeng ruled between 1851-61, this plate was made second half 20th Century. The marks used to pay homage to the old makers.
The plate measures 27.75cm in diameter.
