A group of Chinese Wanyu Tea Cups and small bowls, the Wan Yu mark has been used since the Kiangxi period (1662-1722) and still used into the 20th century, it literally means Trinket Jade. It is believed to refer to an item as beautiful as jade. This group is produced in underglaze blue with the theme an Imperial dragon (5 toes) surrounded by bats (good fortune) and a line of translucent dots, to represent rice. When held to the light as shown, they illuminate.
The group are in good condition, there is limited pattern wear and a couple of minor glaze imperfections. One of the cups has an outer glaze hairline (this appears to be glaze deep, as it doen't go through. The cups measure 7.5cm in diameter and 5.5 cm tall, the bowls 10cm in diameter.
